Irene García

Dancer and Choreographer

“I always knew I wanted to dance. I still love it, but now it’s not only me who dances—my ideas dance too, through choreography embodied in other bodies. The world I observe is my greatest inspiration.”

She holds a degree in Classical Dance from the Conservatory of Murcia and completed her Advanced Degree in Choreography between CSD María de Ávila and Institut del Teatre de Barcelona (2015–2019).

In 2006, she began her career as a classical dancer in Madrid with Compañía Arte 369, performing corps de ballet and soloist roles in Giselle, Don Quixote, The Nutcracker, Les Sylphides, and Soiree Clásica.

After five years as a classical dancer, she received a two-year scholarship at Centro Andaluz de Danza (CAD) under the direction of Blanca Li. There, she left her pointe shoes behind and began her studies in Contemporary Dance. In less than a year and a half, she secured her first professional contract with Cienfuegos Danza (Valencia).

Since 2008, she has worked and collaborated as a freelance artist in numerous projects and companies: Cienfuegos Danza (Valencia), Staatstheater Nuremberg (Germany), Hrisikesh Dance (India), Alexandra Rauh, Steptext (Germany), Montón de Paja y Trigo (Barcelona), Sibera–Paloma Muñoz (Barcelona).

Dedicated both to creation and teaching, she combines her work as director and choreographer with production and distribution tasks for La Quebrá, alongside her pedagogical practice.

Since 2018, she also leads Muévete Parkinson, a project in collaboration with Asociación Murciana de Parkinson On-Off and Associació Catalana per al Parkinson – ACAP, supported by OAEA.
